A great video on Guyana and its potential to tap into the Tourist market which has never really been "nourished" before... With one million acres of rain forest and most of its natural resources still intact, this is a great opportunity for many who want to explore a really beautiful country we call home..
See BBC video link below
"Michelle Jana Chan visits Guyana, and finds a country making the most of its natural beauty to bring in the tourists"..
I did not have a chance to watch that video (not a computer wiz - yet) but I identify with you because when I listen to Dave Martin and the Tradewinds his latest song (maybe it is old and I am now hearing it - I don't get out much) "Guyana Coming Back" really excited me. Guyanese music really helps to deal with those problems that come my way.
Wow!! This is sooooooooo enlightening.Would the American people have this much power to put the elected president back in power if something similiar happened here.I honestly doubt that. And would we have gotten the truth leading up to the overthrow of Chavez if not for the Irish tv crew ,doubt that also.
How about what Mr.Fleischer said in his press conference...a bunch of lies. The American government continues to support countries with governments that suppress the majority of the population while a small minority of very rich people rule with iron fists. That video is a very good example, thanks Karl.
This news clip from 1953 depicts former Presidents Cheddi Jagan and Janet Jagan. It was made just before British Troops occupied British Guiana and the Constitution was suspended leading to Cheddi

All people of Caribbean background and in particular those of Guyanese heritage, will find these Utubes of great interest. Indeed they are worth saving
Hey Ena, what's up? It was good talking to you the other day. "Hello" to the family and Darlene too and am patiently waiting for those photos. Hope you got the ones I sent you.
Hi there, I am Garvan Van Lange's sister in Chicago. My name is Ena Collymore better known as Tikki in Guyana. My E-mail address is Tikki56@yahoo.com. Have a nice day.
these are some very nice pictures of Guyana, you just give me nostaglia looking at them. I am sitting here thinking it's time for a visit. After 25 years I think it's time for me to go an experience all this in person.
I never did get a chance to say thank you to the wonderful people at GT-LIME for presenting the Guyana Flood Website with this wonderful award, thank you GT-LIME Click on the link to view award> http://www.motorsportsguyana.com/images/awardmax.jpg
Hey Peter I have recently did some work on the GMR&SC website. As they say, a complete makeover with easier acess to the photos galleries. Check it out at : www.gmrscgy.com
There is a link to the October 29th International race meet, look for it on the front page of the site just above the countdown.
Kustin, I met up with Neil and Garvan Vanlang this very afternoon and we did an old time lime on Sheriff St, it was almost like the old days, only thing back then 3 banks used to be G$20 now 1 Banks is G$200, lol.
Hi Bryan, how about some coverage on the upcoming GMR&SC international meet at South Dakota?? You did a great job in the past......dudes here are in need of news of what happens before and after the races.
You got that right .. Notice the distance between him and the homan ...and the poor lil girl looks like she scared of the okro too ! You know ya padnah ain't gonna change now ! After all these years . Tell him to join up the site man ! Even if he doesn't want to use his own name . He could come on as ' Scarecrow ' . I am sure a few hills have been eroded in his lifetime . Well I missed out but I hear Mr Bannister planning to hold the next GT LIME in GT . So that's a good opportunity to hook up with you guys . Right Mark .
As for the mash band business , I think you should . You will get a lot of support . Thanks to your footage of the ' Great Flood ' you are now a household name . And that's great that the private people are getting involved in it . The people always get it right eventually , that's the spirit of free enterprise man . Get Neil involved too ! Good to have some new faces on here . .....Welcome
Justin boy, is not only okro, Neil allergic to almost everything else and I hear the ladies allergic to him as well, lol. Neil is is me old padnah and a true sportman. He not looking too bad considering that he older than the hills, lol.
Actually Mash 2006 was a real good smasher and believe me when I tell you that you missed out on an excellent sport. More private entities are getting involved and that augers well for the celebration. I'm thinking of putting out a band on 2007 if everything works out right.
The boat building business must be booming ! Great news ! Another plus would be the criminals wouldn't be able to ' rest down ' their Kalishnakovs ! Even though I see an increase in Piracy on the low seas . BTW I checked out your ' Mash ' pics ...seems like the spectators were more interesting to look at ! Some of them boys ain't aging too good you know man ...and Neil , he always knew he was allergic to okra . But he insists on eating that stuff ! Now rogaine will not even help him ! Keep up the good work man .
Hey fellas and ladies, Bryan Max here from Guyana. I just joined up and will be posting pics and videos from Guyana from time to time to let my homesick GT people get a chance to see how Guyana doing these days. I recently placed a few videos of the 2005 flood on the www.bryanmaxx.com flood website, check the "video clips" link to check them if you wish. More good stuff coming soon. Cheers.
Sorry Slingshot ..but i didn't want to use the word " KACK "
Shey kack shey foot on meh shoulder an' grindin'
Both awee went down low whinning ...
De lady wid de mask still dancin'
Rolling up shey bumsie an' bawling ...
Tek ah taste ...! Tek ah taste ...!!!
How could you balance yourself .....and Indrani , while whinning and going down ?? Besides she had to " roll " up she " bumsie "....again , pure lyrics with you banna .
Justin ... sorry this is sooooooooo late ... I returned from Guyana last week and am trying to play "catch-up" ... with mails, bills, chat posts, etc ... Anyway, here goes:
As for "meh new fren Indrani ..." it goes as follows:
"Suddenly ah felt somebody dancin' nearby me ...
Wen ah turn around it was meh new fren Indrani ...
Shey kack shey foot on meh shoulder an' grindin'
Both awee went down low whinning ...
De lady wid de mask still dancin'
Rolling up shey bumsie an' bawling ...
Tek ah taste ...! Tek ah taste ...!!!
Tek ah taste ...! Tek ah taste ...!!!"
etc ... etc ...
Now let me ask this of you ... and of the list .... who did the video ...? I showed it to Ingrid and she, too, couldn't figure who did ... It certainly wasn't our handiwork ... Yes, the images shown were of our Float and celebrants during Mash 2006 as we portrayed "Pirates" ...
Incidentally, tracks from our new CD "Welcome to Guyana" are already successfully hitting the Guyana's airwaves ...
The videos "What Are We Fighting For?" and "Angels of Heaven", taken from the same CD album, are also being aired daily on the various TV channels ...
Gee..thanks JT....by the way did you ever find the website for North Georgetown School? Somebody sent it to me a few weeks ago, and I may still have it in my deleted folder if you want it.
" mah new fren Indrani put she foot on me shoulder and seh ...tek ah taste " ???? and that is after he went to buy her a roti and curry ! lyrics by Slingshot . pure lyrics .
Again Judy , this camera was also made by BATA !!! Anybody ever heard of Canon or Sony or Minolta or Ricoh ??
Jonathan I agree with you that it certainly is a shame that most of these buildings no longer exist.
I am attaching some video links to the Mash Celebrations that was recently sent to me by a friend.....the quality is very poor and it keeps pausing, so you have to restart your player. Looks like Slingshot was having a great time..
Works fine Judy . Now , this is lovely . The beautiful colonial architecture is spectacular in all the old buildings . It's a pity most of these buildings do not exist today .
You guys are crazy !!! " Lovely Guyana " should not be the title of the clip !!! When all the guy is showing is the deterioration of the capital city !!! Why didn't he show some of the interior ...where indeed Guyana is beautiful . . Not some down-trodden market . and old Court house !! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder alright . ' I behold a depressing video ' ...How can you watch this crap and say beauty is in the eye of the beholder ??? This guy just walked up and down High street and film this garbage and calls it " LOVELY GUYANA " and everbody get nostalgic ....The furthest he went was the " floating bridge "! Jeez . When are you people going to be able to talk freely about the negative crap in Guyana without feeling guilty . ???
Delete all the cookies on the computer before you go to GtLime to view those pictures you just posted. You will see what I'm talking about. The cookie save your user/password to the corus site and only you can see those pictures at Gtlime..
Really? You have to log in to Corus to see the pictures? I wasn't aware of this...you are the first one to tell me that. Anyone else having this problem?
I tested it from several computers and it came up no problem, but I will do as you suggest if this is the case, or ask Mark to transfer to the Photo Album.
The video part is fine. The problem is.... you have to login to exchange.corusgroup.ca to view those pictures you posted.
May I suggest this free website http://s61.photobucket.com/ where you upload your pictures to and link them to GtLime (using the cut and paste technique ) for everyone to see...
Jonathan... Give the banna a break. De man operating on a shoestring budget using a 2meg camera...
Andrew...not sure what you are talking about. The link should take you straight to the streaming of the video. You have to give it a few mins to download to your player first. Is anyone else having problems?
Jonathan...I agree that the quality of the video is not the best and I don't think the photographer was trying to be sarcastic...Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder...and even though we may remember a different Guyana and look at this video in shock, I would guess he saw something different. The pictures while also not the best, was what brought back a lot of memories to me.
Lauren...yes those pictures certainly brought back many many fond memories.
Donna...I know you visit GT quite often, so the footage on the video is probably nothing new to you...I'm glad that you enjoyed it....
Annette...glad you enjoyed it too.
Peter....I'm coming for that Hassa Curry, I'll even bring the roti.
That was excellent footage..that is truly 'Guyana'....thank you! It may not be what most of us are accustomed to now, but if any of you used to go to the market with your mother/grandmother/nanny, you would understand and appreciate ....I do! It brings a smile to my face..
Was this video taken with a hidden camera ? It sucks really . Does not live up to it's title " Lovely Guyana " , a name like " Rotten Georgetown " is more appropiate . Terrible Judy . I think this guy was just being sarcastic . Showing a man wrapping banga-mary in the page of " stabroek news ", and the flooded market . Depressing crap . And the pictures ? Blankity blank !!
A friend sent me this video of Georgetown, and I thought I would share it with you. http://www.gems-av.com/LovelyGuyana.wmv (turn on your sound). I will try to upload the pictures, thanks to Andrew.
